CSA Share Notes Aug 27, 2026

And that’s a wrap! What an intense and challenging summer. Thank goodness we had such a fantastic crew helping us pull it all together. I hope you celebrate summer CSA’s official end with a whole mess of grilled zucchini!

Did you join the fall CSA yet? There’s still a teensy bit of room!

Here’s this week’s vegetable line-up:

  • Cucumber — 2 types: slicers and picklers. Just a few.

  • Eggplant — Remember: Get a little char on it, and it’s so delicious! These plants are tired, so we’re not getting as much out of them but I’ll betcha you’re ready for a break from eggplant.

  • Okra — Enough for the Large and Regular shares this week. Okra goes bad very quickly, so make a plan to use this up within the next couple of days. We recommend roasting or grilling. High heat is the way to go!

  • Bell Peppers — For large and Mini shares.

  • Sweet Italian Peppers — Everyone received a couple of Italian peppers. Perfect for a homemade Pizza

  • Lunchbox Peppers — The Regular shares will enjoy a few of these tasty guys this week.

  • Basil — A nice sprig for each of you.

  • Squash — loads for everyone!

  • Zucchini — SO MUCH ZUCCHINI! Please share with your friends and neighbors if you’re too overloaded.

  • Pattypan Squash — For the large shares. Tender and delish, just like your yellow squash. I love to slice the into big round star-shaped disks to lay on the grill.

Veggie Storage tips:

  • Counter storage: Basil

  • Fridge storage: Everything else! Seal them up in a bag or container to retain moisture for longest storage life

  • Everything wants to be washed well before cooking, but keep the dirt on till then, to prevent faster spoilage.

We’d love to hear stories and recipes of your culinary adventures this week. Tag us on Instagram or Facebook, showing us how you’ve used your CSA share.

– Your farmers, Jess & Justin
